Wallace Emerson

WALLACE EMERSON Park, COMMUNITY CENTRE AND child care centre

As part of the Reimagine Galleria project, Wallace Emerson Park will flourish and undergo an expansion from 6.58 acres to 7.81 acres. A larger, vibrant park will offer greater opportunities to create a more usable, functional and inviting public space where families can gather for fun and play.

The Reimagine Galleria project also includes the renewal and revitalization of the Wallace Emerson Community Centre. A new Community Centre, double the size of the existing centre, will be built at the Dupont entrance of the site. The new 75,000 sq. ft. centre will boast a child care centre and will feature a colourful calendar of community events.

Spring 2018

Two visioning Open Houses were held on April 26, 2018 and May 22, 2018 to gather the community’s feedback, ideas and aspirations. The presentation and panels from these Open Houses can be downloaded here.

Summer 2018

Another Open House was held on July 18, 2018 to present the draft Park Master Plan and concept for the community centre and child care centre. This Open House included detailed roundtable discussions and a variety of feedback was received on the concepts presented. The presentation and panels from this Open House can be downloaded here.

Over the course of the Summer, we also held several focus groups, pop-up stalls and online questionnaires to gather more feedback and ideas. A summary of the feedback we received over the summer can be viewed here.

Summer 2018

With the feedback received throughout the year, the Galleria Developments Design Team have been refining the design concept for the new community centre and child care centre, and working on the Phase One Park Master Plan.

An Open House was held on October 30th, where an updated presentation on the proposed design concept and the Phase One Park Master Plan was provided. The presentation from this Open House can be viewed here, and the Panels can be viewed here. Worksheets seeking feedback on the proposal can be found here , and should be returned through email to [email protected] by November 13th. Once all feedback is received, a summary report of feedback will be uploaded to this website.

The design team will review and consider all feedback before refining the design concept and submitting an application to the City’s Site Plan approval process.
